The lens features a round 11-blade diaphragm that’s designed to provide a pleasing bokeh effect when used with selective focus techniques. It features three aspherical components, which are an XA element, a Super ED element, and four extra-low dispersion components.
These elements are designed to minimize various spherical and chromatic aberrations in photos. It utilizes Sony’s Super Sonic wave motor system, which is designed to provide fast and accurate autofocus in video and still images.
The flexible elements system of the lens helps improve the quality of photos when working at a minimum focusing distance of 3.15 meters with a 0.25x magnification. It also features a dedicated focus range limiter switch and three focus hold buttons. Its built-in focus stabilization system helps minimize the shake effect of handheld devices.
It can be used with certain cameras for enhanced image stabilization that can help reduce the blur in photos.
Through an onboard switch, users can select one of two general image stabilization modes, which are suitable for most shooting situations. The lens’ moisture-sealed and dust-resistant construction helps it endure the effects of harsh weather conditions.
