Its seven-element optical design features aspherical elements for enhanced sharpness and reduced distortion. The upgraded lens retains the same features and functions as its predecessor, such as AF, stabilization, and image stabilization. It also has an additional stop of light for maximum aperture of f/2.8. The additional 0.6-inch teleconverter adds approximately 4.6 oz. to the overall length of this lens system.
