The PYXIS is a 6K cinema camera that takes full advantage of the latest digital film innovations by Blackmagic Design. It features a lockable Canon EF lens and customizable side plates, and it can be used as a box-style camera. Its built-in 6K sensor and wide dynamic range allow it to capture rich colors and accurate skin tones. The PYXIS is a versatile digital camera that can record both H.265 and Blackmagic RAW files to the cloud and stream them to your social media platforms. It can also shoot up to 6k Open Gate video at 36 frames per second and produce 6K Anamorphic videos at 60 frames per second.

LCD Display and Features 

The 4x LCD touchscreen of this device allows you to monitor and review your photos on set. Its built-in HD resolution ensures that you can focus on the important details while keeping the images clear. Its brightness of 1500 cd/m2 helps you see even in low-light conditions. In addition, it features various tools such as 3D LUTS and histograms. 

Full-frame Digital Film Sensor 

The PYXIS features a massive 24x36mm full-frame digital film sensor, which is 3x bigger than the Super35 sensor. It can shoot with a shallow field of field and can be used with anamorphic lenses for a truly cinematic effect. Its 13-stop dynamic range and dual-native ISO ensure that you get the best possible low-noise images. It can shoot up to 36 frames per second at full resolution or 120 frames per second at windowed. The PYXIS’ large sensor allows it to work with various film types and aspect ratios without compromising its quality. It also features an adjustable aperture for capturing smooth and detailed images. In addition, it can work in true 6:5 anamorphic mode without having to crop. The PYXIS can shoot in various frame rates and resolutions, and it can work with both standard and 6K videos. It can also shoot up to 100 frames per second at full resolution. Other options include shooting at 36 frames per second with 6K Open Gate, 24 frames per second with 4832 x 4032 anamorphic, and up to 120 frames per second with 1920 x 1080 video. 

Dual-native ISO

The PYXIS also features a dual-native ISO and a 13-stop dynamic range that allows it to capture more detail in both the darkest and lightest parts of your image. Its built-in code for DaVinci Resolve allows you to create a more creative and diverse look for your videos. The PYXIS’ dual-native ISO system ensures that it minimizes noise and grain in your photos while maintaining its full dynamic range. It can also be used for on-set lighting setups. Its 400 and 3200 ISO settings are ideal for low-light environments, and the gain is automatically set whenever you change the ISO. The PYXIS features a variety of mounts that can be used to customize the way you use it. These mounts can be used to secure various accessories, such as microphones and articulating arms. The standard plate for the camera comes with two 1/4″-20 and one 3/8″-16 threads. The PYXIS comes with a variety of mounts, such as the SSD plate, which can be used to attach a mobile device or USB-C drive. A separate Rosette plate can also be purchased for additional expansion.

Built-in Mounting System 

The PYXIS features a built-in mounting system that allows you to add various accessories to the camera, such as microphones and articulating arms. The standard plate with M4 threads secures the camera with one 3/8″-16 thread and two 1/4″-20 threads. An SSD plate allows you to attach a mobile device or USB-C drive to the PYXIS, and record or stream live content. A Rosette plate may also be purchased for additional expansion. The 4x LCD touchscreen of this device allows you to monitor and review your photos on set. Its built-in HD resolution ensures that you can focus on the important details while keeping the images clear. Its brightness of 1500 cd/m2 helps you see even in low-light conditions. In addition, it features various tools such as 3D LUTS and histograms. The onboard controls allow you to control various functions, such as ISO and white balance. A scroll wheel and three buttons with customizable options allow you to customize the way you shoot. To prevent accidental pressing, the controls are locked. 

Recording and Connectivety Features

The PYXS is capable of recording in the Blackmagic RAW software to ensure that you have complete control over the details and exposure during post-production, and it also supports H.264 proxy files for easy sharing via Ethernet or the company’s cloud platform, the Blackmagic Cloud. All media files are compatible with all operating systems.

The PYXS has two built-in CF Express Type-B card slots that allow you to connect to external storage devices such as SSDs or flash media disks. You can easily stream live content from the PYXIS to a secondary location using RTMP and SRT protocols. Some platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook, and X, support the PYXIS’ signal.

If you’re planning on sharing internally, you can connect a wireless link to the studio using an ATEM Streaming Bridge. The PYXIS comes with a USB-C connection for the URSA CineEVF. It also has a mini 3-pin audio input for connecting a microphone. The PYXIS features a 3.5mm microphone and a monitoring jack on the back.

It can connect to various devices and record mobile data using its USB-C port. It also has a 12G-SDI output for connecting a secondary monitor. You can sync your sources using the built-in Timecode or Reference input, and you can control the camera using an RJ45 Ethernet connection. The PYXIS can be powered using its 2-pin DC power connector or its Sony BP-U battery plate, and you can use the app for controlling the camera wirelessly from up to 30 feet away.
