Apochromatic optical design utilizes a partial dispersion glass that is designed to suppress chromatic aberrations and color fringing. It also features aspherical elements to improve sharpness. In addition, multi-layer coatings have been used to reduce ghosting and flare.
The lens features a Dual Syncro Drive motor that provides fast and quiet AF performance for both video and stills applications. In addition, an AquaDura coating is also included to protect the exposed elements.
Water-repellent AquaDura coating has been applied to the front and rear optical surfaces to protect against moisture and other elements.
