The Leica Q2 Monochrom is a compact full-frame camera that’s ideal for capturing images in black and white. This model features the same design elements as the standard Q2, but it adds a 47.3MP image in a non-colored filter. This eliminates the need for a low-pass or color filter and provides even better detail and image quality. Besides its unique imaging characteristics, the Q2 Monochrom also comes with a sleek and white exterior design. Grey and white engravings can be found on the body and the top plate.

47.3MP B&W Full-Frame CMOS Sensor and Maestro II Processor

The Q2 Monochrom features a unique imaging system that combines a 47.3MP B&W sensor with the Maestro II image processor. This combination delivers a wide dynamic range and exceptional sensitivity to capture images in various lighting conditions. The design features a microlens array that’s updated to provide better image quality and increased resolution. It also omits a low-pass filter to achieve even better detail and clarity. In addition, the camera doesn’t have a color filter array, which allows it to capture images with only a single color value.

The B&W sensor and the image processor allows it to achieve a higher sensitivity range of ISO 100- 100,000 and a wider dynamic range than the previous generation’s model. It also features a reduced noise level to capture images in challenging lighting conditions. The powerful processor can provide up to 10 fps in full-resolution using a mechanical shutter, and it also includes an exceptionally fast autofocus system. Its built-in digital zoom lets users create 30MP images using a 35mm field of view, 15MP images with a 50mm field of view, and 7MP with a 75mm field of view. Besides stills, the Q2 also supports various video recording formats, such as DCI 4K24p and UHD 4K30p, and can has high-speed recording engine that can handle up to 120p.
